JANUARY is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

Do you know?

  • Cervical cancer is the 4th most common cancer among women globally and the 2nd most common cancer among women in Thailand

  • Almost all cervical cancer cases (99%) are linked to infection with high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV)

  • Early detection is the key. Cervical cancer is one of the most successfully treatable forms of cancer, as long as it is detected early and managed effectively

  • Cervical cancer screening with Pap and/or human papillomavirus (HPV) tests is recommended starting between the ages of 21 and 25 years

  • HPV vaccine is safe. Males and females ages 9 to 45 can get the HPV vaccine

  • All boys and girls should get the HPV vaccine between the ages of 11 and 12 for best protection
