Synopsis
Protein is an essential building block of life, and is the primary form of nourishment required to sustain a healthy population. From high-quality animal proteins to innovative plant-based products, Canada is home to the world’s best protein sources. With high population and middle-class growth and density increasing in urban centres, protein consumption in Southeast Asia is projected to rise starkly. Diets heavy in rice, grains, and cereals, will not provide the adequate nutrients required to fuel the rising populations. Southeast Asia still falls behind on reaching adequate nutrition targets, leading to a variety of issues such as obesity, stunting, and anemia.
The Canadian Protein Showcase provides a platform to introduce Canadian protein products, expertise, processes, and commodities to ASEAN-based governments, organisations, and enterprises. This includes Canadian pulses and other inputs for superior plant-based protein products, high-quality and organic meat and dairy products, and innovation in food processing for both traditional and alternative protein products. Southeast Asian start-ups and companies can also learn more about the opportunities for investment and business expansion into Canada’s booming plant-based protein industry.Nutrient-dense and sustainable traditional proteins, such as meat and dairy, in addition to cost-friendly and high-quality plant-based proteins, are required in order for Southeast Asian nations to continue growth and development and for people to live healthy, productive, and happy lives.
This event will promote trade, investment and R&D partnerships between Canada and ASEAN with a special focus on traditional and alternative proteins. We will connect Canadian companies and innovators with ecosystem partners and facilitators in Canada and ASEAN, such as agricultural companies/start-ups, researchers, distributors, accelerators, investors, and other stakeholders in the region’s protein industries.
Join the Canada-ASEAN Business Council Agriculture and Agri-Food Committee and the Province of Saskatchewan to explore the many business, investment, and partnership opportunities available in Canada’s agriculture sector, and how Canadian protein products and inputs can be leveraged to nourish people across Southeast Asia.
