Combined Women’s Lunch (CWL)

The BWG will host the CWL on Tuesday 8th October at the Anantara Siam Hotel. All the ladies’ groups are invited; our guests, including Thai nationals as well as expatriates, are chiefly from Bangkok but some will be travelling from Pattaya, Hua Hin and so on. The purpose of the CWL has always been to support selected charities in Thailand assisting less privileged communities with medical and educational needs, while providing an enjoyable opportunity for the international community to network.

This year, the CWL is supporting two very worthy and worthwhile charities:-

1. The Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer (QSCBC), opened formally by Her Majesty the Queen and HRH Princess Siridhorn, offers specialised training to young doctors from Thailand and internationally. pioneers new approaches to immunotherapy and runs outreach projects with screening and health education for less fortunate women. 

Their latest project is a hospice village, the “Pink Park”, which will provide a peaceful place for underprivileged women to pass away with dignity.

2. Thailand Hill Tribe Education Project (THEP), based in Mae Hong Son province, has worked for over 30 years to give hilltribe children the chance of an education through scholarship programmes, by providing boarding facilities, water supply systems, generators, canteens and libraries. 

Their latest project is a much-needed dormitory for the village primary school of Ban Huay Hom where the remoteness and inaccessibility of the hill tribe communities necessitates boarding facilities; pupils are currently living in makeshift accommodation, to the detriment of their health and education.
