BACKGROUND

 

Sayel Cortes is a Sustainability Strategic Advisor who bridges the gap between global mandates and execution across the private and public sectors. With a multidisciplinary foundation that includes an Environmental Engineering degree, dual Master's degrees in Economics and Global Studies, and a PhD in Environmental Policy, he specializes in translating complex sustainability targets into actionable, risk-resilient strategies, plans, and investments. With over 15 years of experience driving sustainability and climate governance, in the last 3 years, Sayel has focused on disaster risk financing methodologies for the UN, resilient infrastructure advisory across 8 countries (LAC, Europe, and APAC), and the evaluation of a multi-billion-dollar global portfolio for the Green Climate Fund. Based in Bangkok, he works with governments, private companies, and financial institutions to align capital, technical realities, social context, and strategic governance.
